Back to School season is once again here. Time to say goodbye to those lazy hazy days of summer with no alarm clocks and no schedule. Many welcome the return to routine; the kids having sports & lessons again; and the cool mornings and evenings where windows can be open while you sleep. It can be a busy time with the sudden change of schedule feeling a bit overwhelming. That’s where we come in….

We want to eliminate the stress for you and make things easy! So you can start the school year on the right foot.  Here’s how:

Dinner Ideas

Weeknights are busy – you get home from the office and have only a hour before you have to head off for gymnastics or hockey practice. That’s when you throw in one of our gourmet prepared meals (or even better get the kids to put it in the oven before you get home so you walk into the wonderful smells of home cooking!) Our chicken or beef meatballs in our house tomato sauce are delish – just boil a pot of water and throw in some pasta and dinner is ready.  Delicious cabbage rolls or shepherds pie are always a fave.  Or carb them up before practice with our Tortellini Alfredo or Cheese/Spinach cannelloni. And promise us when we say you can NEVER go wrong with our Mac & Cheese! (A fave of kids of All ages!) So many delicious frozen to fabulous meals that you can have on hand in your freezer for ‘one of those nights’. And if every night is ‘one of those nights’ – hey, we won’t judge!

Side Dishes

We get it, you want your kids to eat veggies. We’ve got side dishes ready to go; just heat and serve. Mashed potatoes (3 ways!); heirloom glazed carrots, French green beans with shallots and you can’t forget the brussel sprouts!

We’ve got fresh salads to make things extra-easy for you plus our Bread Bar has a great assortment of rolls, baguettes and breads that make the perfect addition to your meal.

Lunch Ideas/Meals for One

Back to school also means back to making lunches (we feel your pain!) We can help! Our meals for one make the perfect lunch. Heat up in the morning and put in a thermos and a perfect healthy warm lunch for school. Meatloaf and mashed potatoes, chicken parmesan  and shepherds pie. We also have delish soups and chilis that make a warm healthy lunch.

We can’t forget your ‘big kids’ at university or college. They can’t survive on pizza and KD so let us help! We deliver across Ontario so send them a care package of our delish meals that they can just heat and enjoy. One less worry for you!

Frozen meals

Everything Else!

We’ve also got yummy desserts, brunch items, pastas & sauces and lots more! And can’t forget the beer & wine – or as we like to call it Momma and Papa juice!  We look forward to seeing you in the market soon….have a great Back to School season!

Easter is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to gather with friends & family and celebrate. Whether you’re hosting a small brunch or a big family dinner, Easter entertaining can be a lot of fun. It can also be stressful (if you let it) but that’s why we are here to help! Here are some tips and ideas to help you create a casual and enjoyable Easter gathering.

  1. Keep it simple

One of the keys to successful Easter entertaining is to keep things simple. Don’t try to do too much, and focus on the things that matter most to you and your guests. You don’t need to have an elaborate menu or fancy decorations to have a great time. Instead, think about the things that make Easter special to you and your loved ones, and build your gathering around those things. You want to spend time with your guests, and that’s why letting us help with the meal makes all the difference!

  1. Try hosting an Easter Brunch instead of dinner

While traditional Easter dinner is lovely, so is a nice brunch. Your guests don’t have to worry about a late night and you can enjoy a great meal mid-day and then all go for a walk together afterwards. We’ve got some great brunch options for your menu. Our quiche is delicious and comes in 3 flavours; broccoli & cheddar, mushroom & caramelized onion and lorraine.

We’ve also got chocolate avalanche (better than pain au chocolat), multigrain croissants and cranberry & orange scones that you just pop in the oven; from frozen to fabulous!  And don’t forget our ready to bake cinnamon brioche; your house will smell great and your guests will be thrilled!  Pick up our cute butter balls for your table and you’re set!

Kids (and adults!) will love our mini pancakes with a pot of nutella. Yummmm!

A lovely charcuterie board would make the perfect centerpiece for your Easter table, but give us a call ahead of time to order. We do book up!

3. Leave all but the meat to us for your Easter dinner

Yes, you heard us – we can help with all but your ham or turkey. We’ve got the turkey gravy and all the sides, which, lets admit, is the time-consuming part. By the time you wash and cut all your veggies, you are tired of the kitchen.

We have 4 types of mashed potatoes; creamy Yukon gold, red skin garlic mash, cauliflower mash and sweet potato mash. Offer a couple of varieties and your guests will be amazed!

Our Heirloom glazed carrots are a must, as are the French green beans with shallots and our glazed brussel sprouts.  You don’t have to worry about the crowds, pick these frozen sides up ahead of time from us, pop them in your freezer and then just pop them in the oven and you are done!

And start your meal with our carrot & ginger soup. A perfect first course to for your Easter dinner.

4. Dessert does not have to be homemade to taste like it is

That’s right! No need to dirty your mixing bowls, spatulas and spend extra time in the kitchen baking. We have an amazing assortment of desserts that will wow your guests! Since it is Easter and you never know when the Easter Bunny will be coming by, carrot cake is a must! Ours is soooo good if we do say so ourselves.  Our Chocolate Torte or Lemon Chiffon cake are also must-trys. Or our hazelnut filled or caramel filled french beignets. Yum!

3 cans of Nickelbrook beer

5. Try to cut down on your running around and keep it as simple as possible

We are your one-stop shop! Don’t forget that we now have beer & wine for sale. Our wine selection is great (if we do say so ourselves) and features a selection that you can’t find in the LCBO. No need to worry about the line ups at the other stores!

Don’t forget that we offer delivery across Ontario so give us a call and we can arrange to get everything you need boxed and sent off to you!

Wishing you and yours a Happy Easter weekend and a Happy Spring!

SuperBowl Sunday is February 12th and if you’re anything like us, it’s all about the Food & the Halftime show – who cares about the football!

We’ve got you covered for great Football Sunday eats, so make sure you keep these football faves in mind when you are planning your Superbowl menu.

Chicken wings and dip
Hand holding tortilla chip dipping in dip

What’s a football game without wings? Pick up our wings in single size or family size and just heat & serve. Grab our famous St. Agur Blue Cheese dip for dunking (not dipping as it’s so good you’ll want to dunk not dip!).

Keeping with the wing theme, our Buffalo Chicken  dip is mouthwatering amazing. With a bag of our tortilla chips it’s ready to warm up and serve; and the best part, heat in the box so no dishes to do!  You’ll also want to make sure you have our nacho dip…a definite fave!

Pizza is another must for SuperBowl Sunday. Try one of our cauliflower crust pizzas with vegan cheese. Or our great assortment of flatbreads, like buffalo chicken, chipotle pulled pork or truffle mushroom & gruyere to name a few! Guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser!

Meatballs with spoon
charcuterie platter with meat, cheese and grapes

Our meatballs are delish if we do say so ourselves. Available in beef or chicken or in honey garlic appetizer size meatballs if you want to offer an assortment of appies. And you can NEVER go wrong with a charcuterie board. Super easy, just put out some small buns on side as well and your guests can make their own sandwiches as another idea.

3 bottles of red wine on a shelf
3 cans of Nickelbrook beer

And don’t forget we have beer & wine in our market now! We are truly your one-stop shop!

Here’s to the Bills winning! (they are in the Superbowl right?) Enjoy the eats!
